busy!!!

man there is so much going on. internally, externally... being home is full of busy-ness.

not that it's a busy-ness that I mind! I love it, it's wonderful being home and seeing my family again, visiting and catching up with old friends. plus there's a new friend who'll be arriving at my home in 9 short days that I'm very excited to show around my hometown... =)

and although tomorrow will mark the first full week i've completed at home, it feels like so much has happened, and that so much will happen in the days to come. my days are looking very busy in the time ahead, though I keep mentioning to people that my favorite times at home have been the times where my plans have fallen through and i'm stuck at home... stuck meaning relaxing with the people i love most in the world.

one of my favorite days this last week was going around town with my brother. we went to the bottle depot and the bank. nothing extraordinary happened. it was just time we spent together. routine things, no big gestures or anything, but that time is something I wouldn't trade for hte world.

My mom and I have also been working on a sewing project and doing some knitting together. it's kind of taxing on her, so we take it slowly, but it's been really cool.

all that's missing is my sister. she comes home in 5 short days, and i cannot WAIT to see her and spend some time with her too. i look forward to some serious sister time... and goofy times with her too. i love that girl, and i have not seen her since may... that's just criminal.

by the way guys, as far as people go- my family wins. i love my friends and all... but you can't beat family. sorry.

on a random note: i've decided that Bing Crosby is my favorite. his music gives me warm fuzzies like no one else. I was listening to White Christmas in the kitchen today while I was chopping chicken and yams for dinner... seriously, dont i sound like some housewife out of the 50s?? it's so perfect. i'd be so okay with that.

but guys. this time of year can sweep us away with busy-ness and insanity.

don't let it.

the most precious moments are found when you actually take the time to slow down.

ever notice how when you're in a car on the highway the scenery blurs past you? if you're going 100 km/h, how likely is it you're gonna see that someone made a snow angel, rather than when you're going 30?

or if you're in a less snowy climate, what about that squirrel in the tree in the highway median? you know, the one that's dressed as santa claus? singing christmas carols? never seen one? oh. well... they could exist... maybe... but maybe none of us slow down long enough to see them...

okay, i admit, that's a bit dumb. but really. slow down. that scenery is pretty. let God bless you.

in all honesty, which would be the more likely memory to retain for you: that gift you stressed over, and crashed the mall for on christmas eve to get the greatest sales prices, and all those plans you made?... or those slow lovely days, where maybe you went to the bank with your bro and sewed with your mom?

guess which one wins out for me... it's no contest really.

look around you. that scenery won't always be there. slow down. take the time to enjoy it while it's there. make the most of it.

God bless you all this Christmas season.

Out.
