and now for something completely different...

so being on CREW has taught me a lot of things, truths about myself, my faith, and my digestive system.

...huh?

i've been feeling sick a lot, the frequency and degree increasing particularly over the past few months. my mom had this problem a while ago, and went to the naturopath to get checked out for allergies. since then, she's had a major overhaul in her diet, and she feels a lot better when she sticks to what he told her. i figured a visit was overdue for me... but thing is, i love food. i LOVE food. and i knew that the first step for my mom was to go on a diet of basically brown rice only.

and ps, brown rice is nasty.

this is not a diet to lose weight, its meant to settle the system and add foods back in gradually to determine which foods are the cause of my feeling sick.

i was finally convinced to go when my teammates noticed how often i was feeling sick. so i went in, and lo and behold, the dreaded rice diet is upon me. i'm on it for a week. today is day 4, and i can say without being dramatic that it is just as hard as i anticipated it to be. at times. when i get a whiff of mcdonalds, or go out with friends, it's easy to feel extremely discouraged. breakfast time is also kinda hard- it can be hard to find appetizing ways to eat rice in the morning. but some things i didn't remember or realize that are on this meal plan i'm actually allowed to have, like chicken, fruits & veggies, and condiments. but bread? milk? sugar? nope.

it's a tough thing to see candy & chocolate from easter all around my house and know that i can't eat any of it. actually can't. not just "shouldn't". i had a wicked chocolate craving on day 2 (which is weird.. I don't usually eat Easter chocolate.. I'd just as soon put it in cookies). and i caved. the next morning, i felt so terrible i didn't know what to do with myself. once again, i'm kinda put off chocolate, haha.

next week wednesday is the day i can start adding foods of my choice back in, one per day. i'm excited for that.

the encouraging thing is that God is showing His faithfulness in the rough situations, like He always does. it's pretty cool that He never fails to show up no matter what situation i find myself in.. i guess it's the question of how hard you look. every crappy situation is an opportunity for him to prove he's still in control and can get me through it.

and frankly, if it kills me, He's what's waiting for me anyways.

out.
