Lloydminster
Great name right? It's exactly on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan... so exactly in fact, that the town is split by the border... so there is both a Lloydminster, AB and a Lloydminster, SK. Mindblowing.
We arrived in Lloyd (as the locals call it) on Friday during the day, and stayed til Sunday afternoon.
On Friday night, we had a overnight youth gig. We babysat some kidlets for a few hours, then when they went home, we played games, watched a Nooma video, played some Apples to Apples- Bible edition! (yep), and then watched Ratatouille... 'til 2am. After waking the ladies up at 9, we hatched a plot to wake up the boys in another room- by way of pot-and-pan-banging, of course. So good.
Saturday was a day of much laundry (YIPPEEE!), naps and movies, and general R&R. We played a riveting game of "Things" with much laughter, and fell asleep quickly and gratefully.
Sunday, we went with the pastor out to a little community called McLachlin, and did the music for the congregation of about 20 people- the pastor was surprised at the good turnout... hm! Little country churches amaze me. But he said this one survived because it has so much history, the building itself has been around for over a hundred years. So that was cool to hear about. After the 9am service, we drove back to Lloyd for their church service, which was a baptism service. After doing the music for this one as well, and hearing the sermon for a second time (it was good though, so I was okay with it =P), we drove back to Edmonton.
We are staying in Edmonton until Friday, with only two gigs: a concert this evening for possibly 200 people??; and a short school concert tomorrow. So that will be fun!
Bye for now!
